Siesta Beach Public Park – Main Beach Access Point

  • Address: 948 Beach Road
  • Parking: Yes

Located off of 948 Beach Road, the crown jewel of Siesta Key is the main public beach called Siesta Beach.

This main park beach has two spacious parking lots and plenty of great amenities, including picnic areas, restrooms, snack shops, and a restaurant right beside the sand.

Consistently ranked among the nation’s top beaches, Siesta Beach offers picture-perfect sunsets, gentle waves, and gorgeously soft sand. Remarkably, the sand stays cool since the quartz crystals disperse heat easily. This means you can rest easy knowing that your children can play freely without overheating.

For those who aren’t the swimming type, this location has alternative activities to try, including tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, and a children’s playground. On Sunday evenings, it’s where locals host the weekly drum circle to celebrate the incredible sunset.

Although you’re all set with picnic facilities if you want to bring your own food, there are plenty of eateries nearby. Siesta Key Village is a mere 3-minute walk away from this beach, and it offers a wide-range of dining and entertainment options from gourmet donuts, coffee, and seafood to award-winning steakhouses.

There are over 900 public parking spaces next to the main Siesta Beach park, which is the largest lot of any Siesta Key beach access points. Since this stretch of sand is the most popular and consistently packed in peak season, be sure to arrive earlier in the day so you can snag a parking spot.

Beach Access Point 1 – Shell Beach

  • Address: 3941 N. Shell Road
  • Parking: On street, limited

Beach Access Point 1 is located near the northernmost point of the island and provides access to the small, serene Shell Beach, which overlooks Big Sarasota Pass. You’ll find it at the end of North Shell Road but since this is a residential area, there’s limited parking and amenities.

If you’re looking for a peaceful spot to hunt for shells and shark teeth in the sand, this is a great one. Just keep in mind that there aren’t any restrooms, stores, or restaurants within easy reach. Be sure not to leave any trash behind in this unspoiled area.

Beach Access Point 2 – Sunset Beach

  • Address: 41 Beach Road
  • Parking: 1 ADA space, no additional parking

Beach Access Point 2 is at the northern end of Siesta Beach, but this stretch of sand is often referred to as Sunset Beach because it offers incredible views when the sun goes down.

The peaceful ambiance here appeals to those seeking a tranquil beach experience. Grab your beach read, slather on the sunscreen, and let the gentle rhythm of the waves wash away your worries.

This beach access point leads to the remnants of the old Sunset Pier, which is now a popular fishing spot when the tide comes in. A short walk north takes you to Sarasota Point, where you’ll be able to see Lido Key across the bay.

There is no public parking lot at Beach Access Point 2, and permits are required to park at select spots on the street nearby. However, it’s within walking distance of Siesta Village, so you may not need to worry about parking if you are a guest at a nearby Siesta Key Dreams rental.

Beach Access Points 3 & 3B – Siesta Beach

  • Address: 100 & 136 Beach Road
  • Parking: None

Beach Access Point 3 is located near the intersection of Beach Road and Columbus Boulevard, and 3B lies just south of it. Together, these points offer convenient entry to the powdery sands and sparkling waters of north Siesta Beach.

Although more modest in size compared to some of their counterparts, Access Points 3 and 3B exude charm and allure, attracting visitors seeking a more intimate beach experience. Backed by lush vegetation and swaying palms, this beach area provides a secluded retreat for sun-seekers and nature enthusiasts alike.

Both of these spots are pedestrian-access only with no official parking, but you might find on-street parking on the residential streets nearby. There aren’t any shops, restaurants, or restrooms lining the beach here, so it might be tricky to spend more than a few hours on the sand.

Whether you’re craving a peaceful sunset stroll or a private spot for sunbathing, Beach Access Points 3 and 3B promise a rejuvenating escape amidst the beauty of Siesta Key.

Beach Access Points 4 & 5 – Siesta Beach

  • Address: 180 & 200 Beach Road
  • Parking: Yes

At the intersection of Beach Rd and Avenida Navarra, you’ll spot Access Point 4, and Access Point 5 is nearby on the intersection of Beach Road and Ocean Boulevard.

Both locations are a short walk southwest of the Siesta Key Village Strip. You can enjoy a luxurious day shopping and dining, then take a short stroll down to the beach through either access point.

The main difference between these two access points is parking availability. Access Point 4 has just four to six parking spots available. If you are traveling and need to find more guaranteed parking, this access point may not be the best choice. Access Point 5 has approximately 20-30 spaces in rotation, depending on availability and beach popularity that day.

Beach Access Point 7 – Siesta Beach

  • Address: 402 Beach Road
  • Parking: Yes

Further down Beach Rd, off of Calle De La Siesta, Access Point 7 cuts through a long stretch of greenery to lead you down to the beachfront. There is a small lot at the front of this access point that can fit about 40 vehicles at a given time.

You’re a little closer to the action of the main Siesta Beach park here, but it’s still overall quieter than the most central portion of the beach. It’s a great place to relax and unwind.

Beach Access Point 8 & 9 – Siesta Beach

  • Address: 458 & 514 Beach Road
  • Parking: Yes

The next two access points are essentially next to each other at the intersection of Plaza De Las Palmas and Beach Road. Access Point 8 is to the west, and Access Point 9 is to the east of the street. Similar to Access Point 7, the strip travels through a path of protected plant life leading down to Siesta Beach.

There’s a good number of parking spaces available here across the two access points, but it can get busy in peak season, so arrive early. You’re within close proximity to the main Siesta Beach amenities here, so it makes a great base for a family day at the beach.

Beach Access Point 10 – Siesta Beach

  • Address: 598 Beach Road
  • Parking: No

With similar plant scenery to Points 7, 8, and 9, Access Point 10 does not have any parking available in the surrounding area. This is strictly pedestrian access only, so it is not recommended to use this point if you’re driving to the beach.

However, if you’re staying at a condo or vacation rental within walking distance, this is a pretty little trail for reaching Siesta Beach at a fairly central location.

Beach Access Point 11 – Siesta Beach

  • Address: 690 Beach Road
  • Parking: No

At the intersection of Avenida Del Mare and Beach Road is Access Point 11. With plant life surrounding the unpaved path, this provides access to Siesta Beach just a short distance north of the main beach facilities.

This access point also does not have any available parking, but there’s ample parking at the main lots on Beach Road nearby.

Outside of the main Siesta Beach Park area, this point is the closest to public restrooms, picnic areas, lifeguard stations, and concession stands on the beach, so you can easily spend a full day here.

Beach Access Point 12 – Crescent Beach

  • Address: 6490 Midnight Pass Road
  • Parking: Yes

If you’re looking for a beach with the opportunity to snorkel or dive, Access Point 12 is great for you. It’s located at Old Stickney Point and Midnight Pass Road, close to Stickney Point Bridge, which leads to Sarasota.

Crescent Beach, found at the southern end of the island, is slightly quieter than Siesta Beach but no less beautiful. It has great amenities, including beach wheelchair rentals available from the concession stand. There are also some great dining options nearby, such as the renowned Captain Curt’s Crab and Oyster Bar.

The parking closest to Access Point 12 is pretty slim, fitting about 20 cars. The beach access is fairly narrow, so it is recommended to park close to the street for safety. If you’re looking to snag free parking, do come early. There is a paid parking lot nearby that is privately owned to give you more options.

If you’re interested in the Siesta Key Breeze Trolley, there is a stop close to Access Point 12 at Midnight Pass Road and Seaside Drive.

Beach Access Point 13 – Point of Rocks (Crescent Beach)

  • Address: 6900 Point of Rocks Road
  • Parking: No

Access Point 13 leads to a picturesque stretch of coastline renowned for its unique rock formations and vibrant marine life.

Perfect for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts, this underwater wonderland teems with colorful fish, playful dolphins, and curious crustaceans. Strap on your mask and fins, and prepare to be mesmerized by the beauty that lies beneath the surface.

Do note that Access Point 13 does not offer any nearby parking spaces and is primarily for pedestrian access. If you have lots of gear, you’re better off parking at Access Point 12 and walking south along the beach to Point of Rocks.

Turtle Beach Access

  • Address: 9000 Blind Pass Road
  • Parking: Yes

For a change of pace, head south to Turtle Beach, where the vibe is more laid-back, and the crowds are sparse. Known for its excellent shelling opportunities and serene atmosphere, Turtle Beach is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

Pack a picnic, stroll along the shoreline, and keep your eyes peeled for the occasional sea turtle nest – nature’s little treasures tucked away in the sand.

The access point for Turtle Beach is located at Blind Pass Road. There’s ample parking for Turtle Beach, and since there’s a campground, there are great facilities, including restrooms, grills, and picnic shelters. A boat ramp allows for easy canoeing and kayaking access. This is also a popular spot for fishing.
